How did it suddenly get to be the end of August?

My yard sale was on Saturday. While it was hot, incredibly humid, and i was bitten by every biting insect known to man, i think it was probably worth it. I have added a little over $300 to my coffers, and a thrift store will be picking up the leftovers tomorrow. I owe a big debt of thanks to Lisa for helping during the early bird rush and to Andy and Sofia for helping me close up shop.

I am now down to putting random things in random boxes (or just throwing them away); i feel like i should be much more organized than i am at this point. I guess it's just difficult to see much progress when a lot of things will be staying in the apartment for Vonna when she moves in. I definitely recommend having a newly-returned expatriate for your next tenant. They're much more likely to want to buy all your stuff so you don't have to move it :)

Next time i write, i will probably be in Illinois. It will be very strange to leave Atlanta after 14 years. Que sera sera.

The Countdown

2 weeks until my yard sale, 3 weeks until i move to Illinois, 5 weeks until i'm in France!

I'm not looking forward to saying goodbye to my friends and family, especially Andy & Sofia, but i know this is going to be a great experience. Sofia referred to the three of us as a family last night; i'm determined to continue being an important part of her life.

The next few weeks will be bittersweet.

We have contact!

Mme Cossin, my contact at le Collège de la Côte Blanche; emailed me today with a friendly message. Here's an excerpt:

I am the teacher in charge of the assistant in our two "collèges" and P. Mendès France is the biggest of the two (about 850 pupils...)... The kids already had the experience of an assistant last year.... Their level of English is basic except maybe for our oldest pupils (15) who can be quite good sometimes... Your role will be mostly to talk and communicate the most with them.... You will have 10 pupils to speak to with different teachers... Anyway for your arrival, I will be there...Maybe I could even be at the airport, but I don't know if I can organize that... You could stay with us for a few days... For the time being, the schools are closed so I can't phone the highschool where they have flats but usually they keep them for their own assistants...

I'm very excited and grateful for the offer to meet me and let me stay with her a few days; she seems very nice. It will also be nice to have the possibility of a flat at the high school, which is next door to Côte Blanche.
We shall see what comes...
