My jeans, which i wear way too often, are coming adrift. Actually, they started this entropy about a year and a half ago when i began carrying around Glasgow a large, heavy bag filled with history scholarship. The bag rubbed on my left leg for days on end, thus resulting in what i at first took to be horrific evidence of thigh expansion along the outside seams. The lack of a hole on the right leg, however, calmed my fears that my jeans were busting out from the inside, instead confirming the theory of inward invasion.
These holes continued to worsen, and i took to patching. All's well that ends well, eh? Not exactly. Last week, the bag managed to breach a good five inches of seam on both pairs of jeans. I had to resort to wearing my much-hated brown jeans, and the prospect of buying new pants reared its ugly head. After a little surfing of LL Bean and Lands End inventory, i decided maybe bigger patches were all that was required.
And, lo, the uber-patches were born. Clocking in at roughly six inches in length, these babies each took 8-10 hours of embroidery work. I'm thinking about making some to sell on Etsy. What do you think?
